She says Nassar gave her a sleeping pill to help her sleep on the flight, and when she awoke she was alone with him in his hotel room, &#8220;getting a &#8216;treatment.'&#8221; She does not describe his specific actions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I thought I was going to die that night,&#8221; she writes.<\/p>\n<p>Maroney <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/olympics\/2016\/02\/24\/mckayla-maroney-retires-from-elite-gymnastics-rio-2016-video\">retired from gymnastics<\/a> in 2016, at age 20. She sprung to fame with strong routines at the 2012 Olympics, and her look of dissatisfaction at her silver-medal performance in the vault final gave rise to the <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/news\/mckayla-maroney-turned-her-not-impressed-moment-into-a-positive-173344153.html\">&#8220;McKayla is not impressed&#8221;<\/a> meme.<\/p>\n<p>Her story of molestation by Nassar echoes the accounts of many others. Sentencing in that case is scheduled for Dec. 7, the same week as jury selection in his trial on state charges in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>Nassar faces almost two dozen charges of sexual assault in two different Michigan counties, the <em>Lansing State Journal<\/em><a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lansingstatejournal.com\/story\/news\/local\/2017\/10\/13\/judge-declines-delay-trial-former-michigan-state-doctor-larry-nassar-sex-assault-charges\/760881001\/\">reports<\/a>. From 1997 until <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/detroit\/index.ssf\/2016\/09\/msu_fires_former_usa_gymnastic.html\">he was fired last September<\/a>, Nassar <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mlive.com\/news\/index.ssf\/page\/msu_doctor_alleged_sexual_assault.html\">was a sports medicine doctor and faculty member<\/a> at Michigan State University.<\/p>\n<p>He has pleaded not guilty to the assault charges; many of the civil charges are in mediation, according to the Associated Press.<\/p>\n<p>In court, Nassar&#8217;s attorneys have defended his actions \u2013 including breast massages and digital vaginal and anal penetration for up to 20 minutes as a time \u2014 as helpful medical treatments, <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lansingstatejournal.com\/story\/news\/local\/2017\/05\/12\/nassar-pre\/317646001\/\">according<\/a> to the <em>Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><!-- END ID=\"RES558625762\" CLASS=\"BUCKETWRAP INTERNALLINK INSETTWOCOLUMN INSET2COL \" --><\/p>\n<p>Maroney&#8217;s accusation against Nassar comes amid sweeping allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct by film executive Harvey Weinstein <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/thetwo-way\/2017\/10\/18\/558464648\/amazon-studios-fires-top-exec-roy-price-following-harassment-allegations\">and others<\/a>.
