This is not at all a reflection of my opinion of Coach Durkin as a person,&#8221; Loh wrote. <\/p>\n<aside>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p><!-- END ID=\"RES662770648\" CLASS=\"BUCKETWRAP INTERNALLINK INSETTWOCOLUMN INSET2COL \" --><!-- END ID=\"RES662770927\" CLASS=\"BUCKETWRAP INTERNALLINK INSETTWOCOLUMN INSET2COL \" --><\/p>\n<p>The decision to fire Durkin is a complete reversal from an <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2018\/10\/30\/662271054\/after-players-death-u-of-maryland-president-will-retire-but-football-coach-remai\">announcement by the board on Tuesday<\/a>, following months of investigation into the university&#8217;s football culture after McNair&#8217;s death. That announcement cleared the path for the coach to resume running the football program after months of paid administrative leave. <\/p>\n<p>Also on Tuesday, Loh said he himself would retire as of June, and he apparently still intends to do that.<\/p>\n<p>The fate of Athletic Director Damon Evans, remains unclear.
