Judge Jos\u00e9 Alejandro Vargas decided Thursday that the prosecution had failed to show enough evidence to implicate Castillo or Dotel.<\/p>\n<p>Dotel was released on bail Thursday after nine days in detention. He still stands accused of possessing illegal weapons at the time he was arrested, a charge that was not directly connected to the drug bust. Judge couldn&#8217;t find any relationship with most wanted Dominican Kingpin Cesar El Abusador. <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/pBkL5cyZdD\">pic.twitter.com\/pBkL5cyZdD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Antonio Pues\u00e1n (@antoniopuesan) <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/antoniopuesan\/status\/1167194018415091714?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<p><!-- END ID=\"RES755992022\" CLASS=\"BUCKETWRAP TWITTER LARGE GRAPHIC624\" ARIA-LABEL=\"TWEET\" --><\/p>\n<p>In announcing the bust last week, the country&#8217;s attorney general, Jean Alain Rodr\u00edguez, linked the two former major leaguers to an alleged drug kingpin named C\u00e9sar Emilio Peralta, also known as &#8220;C\u00e9sar the abuser.&#8221; Peralta and his alleged network of drug runners and money launderers were the focus of the Dominican investigation \u2014 one that was supported by the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration in the U.S. <\/p>\n<aside>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The U.S. Treasury Department also <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/home.treasury.gov\/news\/press-releases\/sm755\">moved to designate <\/a>Peralta, his associates and several related entities, including several nightclubs, as &#8220;significant foreign narcotics traffickers.&#8221; Dotel and Castillo were not on Treasury&#8217;s list, however.<\/p>\n<p>Dotel&#8217;s attorney, Manuel Sierra, <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/espndeportes.espn.com\/beisbol\/nota\/_\/id\/6009868\/octavio-dotel-sale-bajo-fianza-exonerado-de-lavado-de-dinero\">told ESPN Deportes<\/a> that authorities owe his client a public apology \u2014 and that he expects nothing to come of the weapons charge. &#8220;We have the documentation that proves that it is not illegal,&#8221; Sierra said, &#8220;and we will present it to the court in a timely manner.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Octavio will finally sleep in his own bed after the nightmare of the last few days,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Dotel played <a class=\"colorbox\" rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/leaders\/leaders_most_franchises.shtml\">14 years for 13 teams<\/a> during his time in MLB.
